George Clooney Wedding Update: Is 'Good Friend' Brad Pitt Best Man?

George Clooney will marry his fiancee Amal Alamuddin in September and the actor is expected to ask Brad Pitt to be his best man, a relative claims.

Starla Clooney, who is related to the Hollywood star, revealed her nephew's wedding plans during a recent interview. Clooney, 53, and Alamuddin, 36, are expected to tie the knot in Europe this fall and Pitt, 50, will likely be among the wedding party.

"I did hear Cincinnati, since it's not that far from Kentucky - that's one of the places they were considering - but apparently Cincinnati didn't win, it's not going to be the place," Starla revealed to DailyMail UK.

"I do know that Nick and Nina are planning a trip over to Italy in the next week or so to, I guess, scope out some stuff," she added referring to Clooney's parents.

The Hollywood actor and producer and the British-born human rights lawyer were reportedly spotted in Venice last month and critics suspect they may have toured potential wedding venues.

Clooney is said to have decided against holding the wedding at his Lake Como estate because the highly anticipated event would likely inconvenience the locals and neighbors, the New York Post reported.

"George and Amal want to be married in Italy, but they need a location that offers them and their guests privacy," a source told Page Six.

While the couple have not publicly revealed a wedding date, insiders claim they plan on tying the knot on September 20, 2014.

Pitt, who is a close friend to Clooney, and his fiancee Angelina Jolie will likely be invited to Clooney and Alamuddin's big day. Starla believes her nephew might even ask the "Fury" star to act as his best man during the nuptials.

"I would say he'd choose Brad Pitt for his best man. They are good friends, I would think that's who he'd choose," Starla said.

The engaged couple first stepped out together publicly during an outing in London in October last year, three months after Clooney's split from former pro-wrestler Stacy Keibler. They have since enjoyed a number of globe-trotting jaunts including a trip to Tanzania and New York City.

Clooney, a successful Hollywood star, is passionate about humanitarian work and he has been at the forefront of advocacy for resolving the war in Darfur. Alamuddin, who was born in Beirut and raised in England, also has a philanthropic background.

The Lebanese-born human rights lawyer is currently representing Wikileaks founder Julian Assange and is an adviser to Kofi Annan, the special envoy to Syria.
