'Ghostbusters 3' News: New Villain Turns Out to Be Ghost on Franchise's Logo
As the premiere of "Ghostbusters 3" draws nearer by the day, it has been revealed that the main villain will be the ghost from the franchise's logo, yes, the white ghost but with a scarier look.
Instagram user PixelDan first revealed the news after attending the New York Toy Fair. He got a snap of the figure and even reportedly heard a Mattel representative confirming that the ghost will be the upcoming movie's main villain.
Aside from the character's role, his name has also been revealed: Rowan. Due to the revelation and the first look at the villain, fans on social media are in a frenzy. The reaction of fans who have known the franchise since the beginning of time is understandable. After all, it is yet to be revealed how the actual Rowan will look like and if he is gigantic or just pint-sized.
Compared to the ghost on the logo, Rowan version 2.0 has sharp teeth, a sly smile, angry eyebrows, and a red bowtie. How he will turn out to be the villain is also unknown, and experts suggest that fans wait for the trailer to be released before laying out their verdicts on the idea of a ghost for a villain.
The upcoming movie stars Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon, and Kristen Wiig in a mission of extinguishing enemies that look to threaten humanity. A recent teaser reveals that there will be some police chase scenes and a whole bunch of military forces will be prepping for a seemingly huge attack from the enemy. The teaser also tells fans to watch out for the first trailer, which will be out on March 3.
At the moment, details are very scarce on the plot. However, a leaked plot that is reportedly from Paul Feig's table, reveals that Rowan is a convicted murderer who becomes a ghost. Due to his spectacularly messed up execution, he will begin executing revenge on the people of New York City. The leaked plot's authenticity cannot be verified but it does promise an amazing storyline for the reboot.
"Ghostbusters 3" hits big screens on July 15.
