Google Nexus 7 Release Dates and Updates: New Flagship Phones to Be Released this November; Specs, Features and Price Details
Hold on to your purses, Android lovers, as Google's highly anticipated Nexus 2016 flagships are likely to be released this November.
According to reports, HTC will be building the two new handsets -- reportedly named Marlin and Sailfish -- and are expected to be the first smartphones on the market to run on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat platform. While the Nougat isn't exactly very innovative, it does give users a more accessible settings toolbar, side-by-side app display, and fast app switching.
The two new phones are a pretty big deal, considering that last year's Nexus 6P by Huawei was one of the best Android phones of 2015, which means HTC has quite big shoes to fill.

Sailfish and Marlin
On the specs front, we know from recent leaks that the HTC Nexus M1 (Marlin) is sporting a 5.5" AMOLED display, while the S1 (Sailfish) is at 5". Both will be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 and 820 processor, respectively, and will be equipped with 4GB RAM, as well as 32GB and 128GB of storage space.
Meanwhile, we're looking at upgraded camera hardware, as both the Marlin and the Sailfish will ship with a 12-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front. Both are equipped with 3,450mAH battery capacity and fast-charging support.
On the design front, leaks showed that the Sailfish will be coated in metal, although a third of the rear is glass, mimicking the HTC 10. The Marlin, on the other hand, will likely be equipped with speakers at the bottom and fingerprint sensors on the rear.
Why Nexus phones are loved
The thing about Nexus phones is that they run on the purest form on Android, designed and operational just as Google designed it. There is no bloatware, while users get immediate access to Android and security updates.
And Android itself has reason to brag, as well. Google has been working on its platform, fine-tuning it to Android N, making it the current king of mobile space.
Nexus phones are generally cheaper than their counterparts, with the exception of the premium Nexus 6P. Originally anticipated around August, the new Nexus flagships are expected around November this year, though nothing is confirmed for the price yet.
Google Nexus 7 tablet
The new smartphones are also expected to launch alongside the Nexus 7, and will be manufactured by Huawei. Rumors suggested that the new tablet will come with a NVidia Tegra 1 Processor and 2 TB RAM, while mimicking the processor, OS and internal storage capacities of the two handsets.
The Google Nexus is also expected to cost around $260.
