Google Offers $25 in Refunds Following Nexus 6P Shipment Delays
Google has reportedly offered as much as $25 in refunds for customers who still haven't received their Nexus 6P smartphone orders.
The Huawei-manufactured Google Nexus 6P handset began shipping in the US last week, and some customers have been informed they wouldn't be getting their orders until the second week of November, prompting the search engine giant to offer $25 cash refunds.
A large number of customers who had pre-ordered the Nexus 6P have received apologetic emails from Google informing them they aren't likely to receive their new smartphones until November 14 at the latest, with the company offering a $25 refund to affected customers to make up for the inconvenience.
The Mountain View, California-based tech giant reassured its customers it was working hard to meet the demand for the new handsets, down to ensuring the memory size and color iteration of each order is sent to the right buyer. It further said the $25 refund will be processed the minute each delayed order is shipped.
There have also been reports of shipment delays following the smartphone's launch in Canada, with the expected sale schedule of October 2 pushed back to a month later to November 2 instead, with the delay being blamed on supply issues.
Initially launched in September, the Nexus 6P features an AMOLED capacitive touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 over a quad-core 1.55 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC, supported by 3GB of RAM and internal storage options ranging from 32GB, 64 GB, and 128GB.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, the Nexus 6P features a 12MP rear camera with laser autofocus and dual-LED flash, as well as an 8MP secondary front shooter.
It is still not known how many customers, both in the US and Canada, are currently experiencing Google's shipment delays, and how much the company will be shelling out in refunds once the handsets are finally shipped.
