'Gotham' Season 2 Spoilers: Michael Chiklis Appears As Captain Barnes, Paul Reubens Will Play Penguin's Dad

As Season 2 of Fox's crime-drama series "Gotham" gets underway, cast members of the show revealed additional details about the current season during the recently concluded New York Comic Con. According to a report in Variety, the show will have Paul Reubens playing Penguin's dad and Michael Chiklis' Captain Barnes has been introduced to set the path straight for Jim Gordon.

During the show's panel at the Comic Con, actor Robin Lord Taylor, who plays Penguin, let it out that Reubens will soon be appearing as Penguin's dad, Tucker Cobblepot, in the show. Reubens, who is also known as the actor who plays Pee-Wee Herman, had appeared as Oswald Cobblepot's father before in the movie "Batman Returns."

In the October 12 episode of the show, the character played by series regular Michael Chiklis made his first appearance. Captain Nathaniel Barnes is described by Chiklis as "a countermeasure to the villainy in Gotham." Another important role he will be playing is to set the path straight for detective Jim Gordon, who is seen to be building some sort of alliance with Penguin in season 2.

Taylor also hinted that Penguin and Edward Nygma, a.k.a. The Riddler, will be in center stage this season. Nygma, played by Cory Michael Smith, apparently is beginning to show his obsession with Penguin, according to Taylor.

During the panel, fans wanted to know what happened to Jerome, the character in the show that some pegged as the one who becomes the Joker later on. Show producer John Stephens said that although Jerome was killed in the show, fans should watch out as that may not be the last time they see that character.

"Gotham's" Season 2 returned on the air last September 21. The series is based on the characters in DC Comics' "Batman" franchise but instead of focusing on just Bruce Wayne, it looks at the back story of James Gordon, the cop who would become Police Commissioner later on, as well as the origin stories of the franchise's villains, starting with Penguin, The Riddler, Catwoman, The Joker, Poison Ivy, among others.
