'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Movie Characters and Plot News: Quirky Marvel Character to Grace 'Guardians' Territory
Marvel is chock-full of amazing characters and titles that fans are very knowledgeable of, but this certain name that is said to make an appearance in "Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" will surely add that bit of quirkiness that will complete the movie.
Sources close to the production team told Geek exclusively that a weird and not-so-popular character among moviegoers will appear in the highly anticipated film. This character goes by the name Ego and he is not just some new character since he is considered a fan-favorite in the comic books.
Ego is basically a planet but complete with human features as it sports blazing eyes, a nose, and a beard. For those who may not know about Ego's significance in the Marvel universe, it is also called The Living Planet largely because it has the ability to move by its own will and has consciousness about worlds in its galaxy and beyond.
According to Marvel's website, Ego's first journey landed him face to face with Thor, who is basically one of the biggest heroes not only in Asgard but definitely on Earth. While Ego was defeated by the God of Thunder, his conquests didn't stop, making him a name that rings a bell in the territories of the Fantastic Four, Beta Ray Bill, and other entities in the Marvel universe.
At the moment, it is unclear if Ego will be joining the mighty team of "Guardians" or if it will fight against the heroes. However, the planet's appearance is already expected to be a good move by production as it will definitely feel at home with Vin Diesel's Groot, who, like Ego, is also one of Marvel's favorite comic book names.
Meanwhile, director James Gunn has already said earlier last year that he won't be addressing anymore rumors about the movie so fans can expect less information in the coming months until trailers are released.
"Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2" will hit big screens on May 5, 2017.
