'Halo 5' News: December Update Brings New Forge Mode
The all-new and powerful map-editor Forge is finally arriving to "Halo 5" this December, according to a report in Tech Times. Aside from the map-editor which comes armed with new features, the update will also bring more than 50 REQ cards, three new arena maps and a new Warzone map, as per the report.
Forge was previously introduced in an earlier game in the series, "Halo 3," which allowed players to create maps and edit them as well, so those who have been playing the series for a long time are ecstatic about the editor coming back in "Halo 5."
According to game developer 343 Industries, the editor comes with new features that make it better than the older version of the editor. Called the "Cartographer's Gift," the "redefined Forge mode" is said to include over 1,700 objects, definitely more than double the number of items in the older version. Improved and easier control is one area that the development team worked on, making it possible to make map-building faster. Still another area that saw improvement is the editing tool, which now allows the player to edit as many as 64 individual objects or groups. An earlier report in Gamespot detailed the new features available.
With Forge, "Halo 5" players can now create their own maps or edit existing ones and have their friends play with the maps they made, adding a whole lot of playing hours to the game.
Aside from the new Forge mode, the December update also included a new Warzone map called the Battle of Noctus. Three new arena maps are also included, namely the Overgrowth, Antifreeze and Entombed arena maps.
The free update will also bring back a favorite weapon, the SPNKr Rocket Launcher, and the Mark IV (Gen1) armor sets, as well as the Raijin armor sets. According to 343 Industries, the SPNKr Rocket Launcher which consists of dual tubes will come in "four flavors." A more complete list of the REQs were provided in the original report in Tech Times.
