'Harlots' Season 2 News: 'The Leftovers' Star Liv Tyler Lands Series Regular Role in Hulu Drama
Liv Tyler is officially on board the second season of "Harlots."
"The Leftovers" alum has landed a series regular role on the Hulu drama, according to reports. Tyler will take on the role of Lady Isabella Fitzwilliam, an enigmatic aristocrat and social butterfly. Her shadowy past puts her in the trail of Lydia Quigley (Lesley Manville), who uses blackmail to get what she wants. While dealing with a loveless marriage, Isabella finds an unexpected ally in Charlotte Wells (Jessica Brown Findlay).
"There is no equal to Liv Tyler's brilliance and regal elegance, and we can't think of a better actress for the complex and passionate Lady Fitz," said Monumental Television co-directors Alison Owen and Debra Hayward in a press statement. "We're thrilled for her to join our gang of 'Harlots,' and can't wait to see the fireworks as her presence is felt by Lydia and Margaret."
Set during the 18th-century Georgian London, "Harlots" tells the story of the Wells clan led by matriarch Margaret Wells (Samantha Morton). After her daughter Charlotte heads to the home of archenemy Lydia, their rivalry reaches a dangerous new level. The series, which is inspired by stories of real women, is a family drama viewed from the female perspective.
Tyler's role marks the latest TV acting gig since she starred on HBO's "The Leftovers" for three seasons. The daughter of model Bebe Buell and Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler, the actress has appeared on many feature films including "The Lord of the Rings," "Armageddon," "That Thing You Do" and "Empire Records."
Her turn on "Harlots" marks her second role in a UK-originated program. Tyler recently starred opposite Kit Harington in the BBC drama "Gunpowder."
The second season of "Harlots" is expected to premiere next year on Hulu. An exact release date has yet to be announced.
