'Harry Potter' News: New Play Is Actually the Eighth Book of the Series

When it was announced last December 2013 that there is another "Harry Potter" project in the works in Playbill, many fans got excited. The last "Harry Potter" movie, "The Deathly Hallows – Part 2," premiered back in 2011, and many fans still can't get over the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter." Now, loyal followers of the franchise can appease their 'Harry Potter' addiction by watching J. K. Rowling's work, the 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.'

The news broke out when it was announced by Pottermore, a dedicated website for "Harry Potter" fans that was developed by Sony and J. K Rowling. According to the website, the new "Harry Potter" is not a prequel to the story, but rather a sequel. It is considered the eighth "Harry Potter" story, and will tell the story of Harry and his son, Albus Severus.

The series ended with Harry Potter sending his two sons, James Sirius and Albus Severus, off to Hogwarts at the King's Cross Stations' Platform Nine and Three-Quarters. Adult Harry was consoling his youngest son, who is afraid that he'll end up in Slytherin. Harry patiently replied, "You were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew."

According to the synopsis provided by the website, Harry is now struggling with balancing his work and personal life, and Albus is pressured with his family legacy. The full summary reads, "It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children."

"While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

"Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" will premiere around summer of next year in London's West End as a theatrical play. Tickets will be available this Oct. 28 for those who registered early, while for those who did not pre-book, tickets will be sold this Oct. 30 to the general public.
