'Hawaii Five-0' Season 5 Episode 12 Spoilers and Recap News for 'Poina 'Ole'

Last Friday on "Hawaii Five-0," a brain surgeon gets shot, Lou's daughter Samantha deals with the aftermath of her kidnapping, and Steve helps Grace train to get a fitness medal.

Lou's daughter Samantha is having nightmares about the time she got kidnapped and locked in a cage. She's also having a hard time watching Ian die during her ordeal. Lou feels helpless and talks to Chin the next day about Samantha. Chin tells him that all Lou needs to do is to be there for his daughter, and later Lou tells his daughter that it will get easier over time and that they will get through this.

Meanwhile, Dr. Dupont, who's about to go to work to do some emergency surgery, gets shot at the parking garage of the hospital. The team finds out that Dupont's patient is Paul Delano, the man who killed Chin and whose brother murdered Chin's wife, Malia. The team speaks to Delano, and he admits that he has been playing up his reputation in prison.

Danny and Kono head to the morgue to talk to Max, and he says that Dupont treated another patient from Halawa Correctional, a man with an inoperable brain tumor. But the man didn't die from the tumor—he was smothered. After some investigation, the team finds out that it was guard Alex Mackey who was responsible for the murders.

Meanwhile, Steve is spending some time with Grace, Danny's daughter, as he is helping her train for the President's Physical Fitness Medal. They run and commiserate about Danny. Then, Steve sees someone steal a car. He tells Grace to stay where she is and he goes after the thief, but he gets away.
Duke and Pua find that Steve's car has been stripped, and Danny is very angry that Steve left Grace by herself.

It turns out that a teenager who has been living on the street was the one who stole Steve's car. After Steve hears that the boy has never stolen anything before, he sends for some food and clothes for the boy, Nahale, and tells him that if he stays out of trouble and helps him rebuild the car by getting back all the parts, he won't file charges. Steve also helps him get a job with Kamekona.

"Hawaii Five-0" airs on Fridays at 9/8c on CBS.
