Honda Recalls 46,000 Fit Sports Cars: Manufacturer Makes Nearly 1 Million Recalls in April (VIDEO)
Honda has announced a voluntary recall of nearly 44,000 Fit models, the smallest car produced by the manufacturer, citing a problem with the car's electronic stability control system.
The recall affects all 2012 and 2013 Fit Sports models. The cars require an update to the Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) system software.
"The VSA system on certain 2012-2013 model year Honda Fit Sport vehicles equipped with certain tires may allow yaw rates that exceed certain U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS)," a statement released by the company said.

The defect may allow the cars to tilt too far on sharp turns, leading to the loss of tire traction and increasing the risk of a crash. The issue was discovered during testing, according to the company, but no known incidents of the defect leading to a crash have been documented.
"Honda is announcing this recall to encourage owners of all affected vehicles to take their vehicles to an authorized dealer as soon as they receive notification of this recall from Honda," the company said. "Mailed notification to customers will begin in mid-May, 2013."
The recall is the third this month. Last week Honda recalled approximately 128,000 Honda CR-V vehicles, 59,000 Honda Odyssey vehicles from the 2012-2013 model years and 17,500 Acura RDX vehicles from the 2013 model year. The cars require a replacement component of the brake shift interlock system.
"In sub-freezing temperatures after initial use of the vehicle's gear-shift mechanism, it may be possible to shift the vehicle's transmission out of the Park position without depressing the brake pedal," the company said in a statement.
Also, on April 10, Honda issued a recall on approximately 426,000 model-year 2001-2003 Civic vehicles, approximately 43,000 CR-V vehicles from the 2002-2003 model years and approximately 92,000 model-year 2002 Odyssey vehicles in the United States to replace the passenger front airbag inflator.
