Houston Rockets Forward Luc Mbah a Moute Sidelined for Two to Three Weeks Due to Shoulder Injury
The Houston Rockets will have to make do without one of their key defensive players in the next few weeks.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Luc Mbah a Moute is expected to miss two to three weeks due to a dislocated right shoulder. A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan performed on his shoulder on Thursday showed no significant damage.
The veteran forward hurt his shoulder when he landed awkwardly following a dunk in the second quarter of last Wednesday's game against the Charlotte Hornets. Fortunately, he managed to avoid a serious injury.
"It was still good to get good news from the scans. It could be way worse. It's not too, too serious," Mbah a Moute said, via the Houston Chronicle. "It was nothing major so the risk is very, very, very low from what I heard. It's just a matter of getting the pain out, getting the range of movement and everything back to normal," he continued.
"It's getting better. It's hard for me to tell right now. I'm taking it day-by-day, doing my treatment, staying on top of things and seeing how it goes. I'm hopeful. They said a couple weeks," he added.
Mbah a Moute is averaging 6.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals in over 25 minutes a game this season. He is also shooting 45.8 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 66.7 percent from the free-throw line.
The Cameroonian forward doesn't score much, but he has made a living on the defensive end of the floor and he has played a vital role in the Rockets' success this season.
P.J. Tucker is expected to see a significant increase in playing time while Mbah a Moute is on the shelf. Starting small forward Trevor Ariza will likely see extended minutes at the four spot as well in small-ball lineups.
