HP Unveils 4K UltraBook EliteBook Folio G1, Designed To Be Thinner Than MacBook
The time has finally come that someone overtakes Apple's thin laptop . According to Latin Post, California-based HP recently announced during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) a laptop that is thinner than the 12-inch MacBook and it's called the EliteBook Folio G1.
Tech Radar detailed that the laptop has a starting price of $999 and, as expected, it is very light and slim with measurement details of just 0.49 inches thick (12.4mm) and a weight of 2.2 pounds (0.99kg). The MacBook, on the other hand, measures 0.51-inches (13.1mm) and weights 2.03 pounds (0.92kg). It's noted to be a perfect match for those who are looking for a business-class laptop that can offer superb consumer-grade style and excellent performance especially for on-the-go workers.
At first glance, the HP EliteBook Folio G1 appears to be similar to the MacBook and the MacBook Air because of its aluminum enclosure that covers the whole notebook. But what makes it a better performer than the Apple brand is its optional 4K-resolution display, reports CNET. It also comes with a full 180 degrees hinge that lets it lie completely flat. Aside from that, it is installed with the newer second generation of Core M processors from Intel which include M3, M5 and M7.

PC Mag Asia reported that the laptop sports a 12.5-inch full HD display and comes with 8 GB of system memory. It can be expanded with SSDs up to 512 GB. It's also incorporated with new technologies like Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C. However, as the Tech Radar report pointed out, HP only provided two of the new ports should the user have the need to connect an external device while the laptop is charging. Those who will still be using the HDMI and USB-3 will have to purchase an adapter.
Those who are interested in purchasing the EliteBook Folio G1 can get it starting March and it will be made available directly from HP's website.
