HTC One M10 Release Date News Update: Spec Rumors Include Snapdragon 820, Wireless Charging

Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer HTC is expected to release its flagship smartphone soon but details about it are still being kept under wrap. However, the web is not short of leaks and speculation on what specs the new device may feature. According to rumors the upcoming device will be the HTC One M10.

The new device is said to be an update to the HTC One M9 that was released back in March 2015. But according to Tech Advisor, HTC may be using a different name for the successor due to the poor sales of the predecessor. The site noted that the upcoming device may be named HTC Perfume to avoid comparisons to the disappointing One M9. But until official details are announced, it's best to take this report with a pinch of salt.

As to when the device will be coming out, Tech Radar noted that there are speculations it may be unveiled during the Mobile World Congress 2016, which is scheduled to take place on Feb. 22 to Feb. 25 in Barcelona, Spain. The One M9 was revealed also during the MWC 2015 so HTC may do the same thing for its successor.

When HTC revealed the One M9, it was found to be very similar to the One M8. The new device however is expected to be very different from its predecessor. It's predicted to come with significant improvements to the design and innovation including wireless charging.

If HTC pushes through with the wireless charging feature, it would mean that One M9's metal body will no longer follow to the One M10 since wireless charging does not work well with metal.

According to Expert Reviews, the HTC One M10 may be equipped with Qualcomm's latest chipset, the Snapdragon 820, along with 4 GB of RAM, storage options of 64 GB or 128 GB, Android Marshmallow 6.1 and with HTC Sense 8.0. It's also said to have a screen upgrade although details about it are scarce. There's a good chance though that it will sport a QHD display. Camera specs vary from one report to another. Some say that it will have a 27-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera.

A lot is still to be unveiled for HTC's upcoming device but until then, fans will have to watch out for more updates about it.
