iPhone X Specs Review: Apple Introduces FaceID, Animoji, and More

Apple finally launched their 10th anniversary iPhone, better known as the iPhone X, at the company's fall event last Tuesday held at the Steve Jobs theatre in the new campus in Cupertino, California.

Many are calling Apple's iPhone X the future of the smartphone. If it really is, tech junkies should be getting used to the four-digit price tag that comes with it. To commemorate the anniversary of the flagship, Apple has succeeded in recreating the feel of the original device, with the stainless steel band and its black colored front.

The rumors were true all along about the iPhone X with a 5.8-inch OLED display with slim bezels. It has a pixel resolution of 2436 by 1125. With its slightly thicker body than the iPhone 7, the device should be less likely to slip out of one's hands. It sports an all-glass back design in two different colors, silver and space gray. As expected, Apple removed the physical home button from the façade, and unexpectedly the fingerprint sensor along with it.

Without the physical button, users simply have to flick an open app upwards to revert to the home screen.

The latest unit is the first iPhone to come with their latest security technology called the Face ID. Just as the firmware leak revealed prior to the smartphone's launching, users will have to set up the security feature once. iPhone owners will have to move their head around so the device can capture different angles of their face.

Apple has also upgraded the already top-tier cameras of the series. The next generation iPhone now has optical image stabilization for both of the rear cameras. Both cameras have 12-megapixels, with f/1.8 aperture and f/2.4 aperture.

The iPhone X is powered by the latest iOS 11, which introduces a new feature of the Messages app, the Animoji. This will allow users to animate regular emojis with their own facial expressions and even their own voices.

Also at the event, Apple unveiled the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, which was originally thought to be the 7 and 7 Plus. The iPhone X will be available for pre-orders starting on Oct. 27. Units will be shipped on Nov. 3.

The 10th anniversary iPhone comes in two configurations: 64 GB and 256 GB. The former costs $999 while the latter is priced at $1149.
