ISIS News: Supporter of Terrorism 'Tried to Shoot Up' Members of Detroit Church

Following the recent deactivation of more than 125,000 Twitter accounts due to their relation to violence and extremism, the FBI has recently reported that it has taken a man into custody for his ISIS-related plans.

According to NBC News, the feds reported that Khalil Abu-Rayyan was planning to attack a huge church in Detroit. The church's name and other information could not be disclosed, but the authorities said it had 6,000 members and was Abu-Rayyan's target before he was captured.

An undercover FBI agent followed the 21-year-old's activities and was told by the suspect that he "tried to shoot up a church one day." The unnamed agent seemed to have become good friends online with Abu-Rayyan and he was able to get a good amount of evidence against him. "I bought a bunch of bullets. I practiced reloading and unloading," the suspect reportedly told the agent online.

Aside from having guns, Abu-Rayyan also possessed a large knife and has reportedly been sending threats of violence against other people in the community. His threats reached not only church members but even police officers. What's interesting is he used the name of the Islamic State, claiming that his threats of violence were being done in the name of the terrorist group.

The authorities further stated that Abu-Rayyan had long been "dreaming" of beheading someone. His plans, including the church attack, were busted when his father discovered the paraphernalia he was planning to use for the church attack.

When asked about his thoughts on the alleged terroristic attack that he was planning and finally being busted before he can lay out his plans, he reportedly said, "Honestly I regret not doing it. If I can't do jihad in the Middle East, I would do my jihad over here."

Abu-Rayyan has been under the observation of the feds for some time, and even if he is not yet facing terror charges, he will continue to stay behind bars for other charges such as over-speeding and illegal possession of fire arms and drugs.
