'IT: Chapter Two' Release Date, News: What's Known About the Sequel So Far
"IT" is getting a sequel, and here is what is known so far about the second installment.
At the end of "IT," viewers saw the Loser's Club triumph against the demonic presence of It, and as the credits rolled, the title of the film was finally revealed as "IT: Chapter One." This finally confirms that a sequel is going to happen. However, fans of the book were already well-aware of this fact ever since the first trailer was released. Now that the film has earned a record-breaking $117 million in its opening weekend, the sequel is officially a go.
In a report published by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that Gary Dauberman has already signed to write the script for "IT: Chapter Two." With Dauberman's return finally confirmed, it's only a matter of time before director Andy Muschietti is announced to direct the sequel.

Producers Seth Grahame-Smith and David Katzenberg recently revealed to Slashfilm that they are only waiting for the "go" signal.
"We are locked and loaded and ready to jump in the minute they say 'go.' The script is not done, but the script is being worked on. Obviously, all of the filmmakers are chomping at the bit to get started, and we have a very exciting shape, and Gary's working away. I feel somewhat optimistic that we'll get to make it, but there's been no official decision," they said.
According to Muschietti, the sequel may be set to move in the next spring and that by January, they'll finally have the script done. When this happens, they'll probably be able to start production by March. With this being said, "It: Chapter Two" will more or likely happen in 2019.
The first film explores the protagonists, the Loser's Club, as children, but in the sequel, they will jump 30 years into the future as they end IT once and for all.
