Italy vs Costa Rica Live Stream Free, ESPN TV Start Time: Watch World Cup 2014 Football Online

Italy will play Costa Rica on Friday in a big World Cup 2014 Group D match that not only affects the future of these two teams, but also of the other teams in the group who will be watching today's game closely. England, who lost to Uruguay on Thursday, need Italy to win this game to ensure they still technically have a chance to progress, and give them hope for their third game. Today's big game between Italy and Costa Rica will kick off at 12 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on ESPN or online through free live stream (details below).

If Costa Rica claim even a point today then England's World Cup is over. England need Italy to defeat both Costa Rica today and then Uruguay in their final game to put England's fate back in their own hands.

If Italy can win all three group games, then England would need to defeat Costa Rica in the final game and better the goal difference of both Uruguay and Costa Rica to steal second spot and make it to the Last 16.

Most pundits are giving England next to no chance of progressing following their second straight defeat on Thursday in the World Cup.

No team has ever lost both their opening two group games in a World Cup and still managed to progress to the knock out rounds.

England captain Steven Gerrard has said, "Italy are a fantastic team and capable of winning both of their remaining games but we're clutching at straws. The position we're in is the position we didn't want to be in coming into the tournament, relying on other people's results. We need to be professional, keep fighting and pray for that scoreline to go for us."

In team news, Italy's Gianluigi Buffon and Mattia De Sciglio have been back in training in recent days but whether they will make today's game may rest on a last minute fitness assessment.

Meanwhile, Costa Rica will be desperate to at least take a point from today's game, and if they can it would put them in the driving seat to beat Uruguay to second place in the group.
