His autopsy is now complete, and it is confirmed that the 51-year-old actor did in fact die of a heart attack, as was originally thought.

Gandolfini "died of a heart attack of natural causes … nothing else was found in his system," family friend and spokesman for the family, Michael Kobold, said in statement at a Roman news conference early Friday.

When responding to question, Michael Kobold went on to dispel any rumors of drugs or alcohol being a cause of death.

"There's nothing out of the ordinary. It was a heart attack. It was a natural cause ... There was no foul play, no substance abuse. None of that," he said.

Kobald also read a statement provided by the Gandolfini family expressing grief and a desire for privacy.

"We are all devastated by this loss. James was a devoted husband, the loving father of two children, and a brother and cousin we could always count on.We thank you for giving us the privacy that you have given us and afforded us at this difficult time. Our expressed thanks," Kobald said.

James Gandolfini was 51 years old when he passed away. He survived by his wife Liliana Gandolfini, his son Michael and his young daughter Liliana, who is just 8 months old.
