'Jane the Virgin' Season 3 Spoilers and Release Date: New Love Interest in Jane's Life; Would She Finally Lose Her Virginity in Season 3?
The long wait has officially begun for "Jane the Virgin" fans, as the CW drama series is set to return to the screens on Oct. 17. Yet even as Michael Cordero's (played by Brett Dier) fate still hangs in the balance, looks like everyone's favorite virgin won't remain heartbroken for long, as new love interests come her way in Season 3.

Anthony Mendez, who voices the Narrator in the critically-acclaimed series, previously confirmed that Jane will finally lose her virginity in Season 3. Seeing as the whole series' humor is partly based on the concept, Jane losing her titular characterization would be an interesting development for the show.

In a report from Bustle, Mendez said showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman mentioned that Jane would lose her virginity this season, although they've yet to know the details. Fans of Jane Villanueva would be pleased, but here's the catch: they're not even entirely sure if she'll lose it to husband Michael!
Avid viewers of the show would recall that Michael Cordero was shot almost immediately after tying the knot with Jane, leaving the previous season in a cliffhanger: would he survive or not? Previous spoilers and updates have all been leaning towards Michael surviving, partly due to the cast's social media photos and images with Brett Dier in tow. Gina Rodriguez has even posted a photo with Dier in full police outfit (Michael is a detective in the show), captioned: "My favorite TV hubby."

New love interest?
Despite that cute affirmation of #TeamMichael from Gina Rodriguez herself, Mendez teased about a possible new love interest in Jane's life, which he guaranteed would "steam up" her relationships. He slyly said he's not sure whether it's Michael or a re-entering old flame, which corroborates an earlier report saying Miles Gaston Villanueva is joining the cast as "Sam," the "intellectual and sexy" crush who came before Michael and Rafael!
Sam is expected to have an impact on Jane's present, which means a possible threat to #TeamMichael's happily ever after. Is it time to jump ship, then?
Even with this new development in Jane's life, Mendez gently reminded everyone that the show doesn't just revolve around Jane's sex life, whether or not she loses her virginity, nor on her ever-changing love interests. The show, he said, strives to pull more focus on the dynamics of a family, and how Jane is struggling to keep her identity and goals despite the many things going on in her life. He also talked about Snyder's creative flair and how she has been successfully keeping all the storylines afloat.
Well, we can certainly be the judge of that, as soon as Jane the Virgin airs on CW on Oct. 17!
