Jimmy Fallon's Mother Gloria Dies, 'Tonight Show' Tapings for the Week Canceled

"The Tonight Show" tapings for the week have been canceled following the death of host Jimmy Fallon's mother.

Gloria Fallon, 68, has passed away on Saturday due to an undisclosed illness, according to reports. The tragic news comes a day after Fallon canceled a taping of his late-night show because of a "private Fallon family matter."

NBC, home network to "The Tonight Show," extended their deepest condolences to Fallon and his family in a press statement Sunday morning. In light of Gloria's death, the network announced that tapings of the talk show for the week of Nov. 6 to 10 have been canceled. Repeat episodes will be aired instead.

"Jimmy was at his mother's bedside, along with her loved ones, when she passed away at NYU Langone Medical Center in NYC," said a family spokesperson in a statement. "Our prayers go out to Jimmy and his family as they go through this tough time."

Fallon himself also revealed through his spokesperson that he lost his "biggest fan." In previous interviews, he said Gloria and his father, Jim, would tape "Saturday Night Live" during his younger years so that he and his sister could re-enact sketches in front of their friends and parents.

After the news broke, many fans and celebrities have taken to social media to express their condolences to the grieving host — who often referred to his mom on the "#MomQuotes" segment on his program. Gloria was also present when her son taped his first night hosting the iconic talk show three years ago.

NBC decided to cancel the show's Nov. 3 episode to allow Fallon to be with his mother, who was reported to be in the hospital at the time. Previously announced guests for that week included Sam Rockwell and "Maroon 5" frontman Adam Levine (Monday), Sam Smith and Will Ferell (Tuesday), Gina Rodriguez and Mark Wahlberg (Wednesday), and Tiffany Haddish and Ice-T (Thursday).
