Jose Aldo News: Former Featherweight Champion Speaks Up After Loss To Conor McGregor
After suffering his first defeat in ten years over the weekend at UFC 194, former UFC world featherweight champion José Aldo has finally spoken up.
The 29-year old Brazilian fighter out of Team Nova União won the world 145-pound title back in 2009, when he was still fighting under the UFC's sister company, World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC).
When the WEC closed down and Aldo was relegated to become the first UFC featherweight champion, he was able to defend the title a total of seven times, against the toughest names in the division such as Team Alpha Male standout Chad Mendes, former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, and former lightweight title contender Kenny Florian, just to name a few.

It all ended with one short straight left hand from "The Notorious", in a showdown that lasted merely 13 seconds. Aldo did not show up for the post-fight press conference and was not able to give his reactions. He did, however, conduct an interview with Brazilian media outlet Combate a day after the fight (report translated by MMA Fighting).
According to Aldo, he is still not sure if what happened was a mistake on his part or if it really was McGregor's able to get him with a clean shot.
"Man, it's hard to say know if it's (his) success or (my) mistake," Aldo said in the interview. "It's a quick decision, and he was able to connect a good punch when I tried a combination."
A day prior to UFC 194, former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar also handled his task at hand with flying colors by scoring a first round knockout finish over Chad Mendes at the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale.
At the event's post-fight presser, Dana White already promised Edgar a shot at UFC featherweight gold. As for Aldo, while he says he does want a rematch with McGregor, he is also willing to accept the cards that he was dealt with.
"It's a sport, we have to accept," Aldo said in the interview. "Not only from wins you live your life. That makes us stronger."
