According to the 19-year-old, she started to become interested in Austin when he was playing volleyball over at her house. After their game, Joy-Anna's father Jim Bob Duggar asked Austin if he could share his testimony. "Just to see his heart, really, was the first thing that attracted me to him," she stated.
Soon after he began having romantic feelings for Joy-Anna, Austin asked her to court in November 2016. "I could not believe it," Joy-Anna continued. "Having interest in this guy for so long and then this having him and asking me was amazing."
