'Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom' News, Release Date: Jeff Goldblum Reveals His Role Will Be Small

While attending a press tour for his upcoming film, "Thor: Ragnarok," actor Jeff Goldblum was asked about his role in the next film in the "Jurassic World" franchise, "Fallen Kingdom." As previously reported, Goldblum is set to reprise his role as Ian Malcolm in the sequel. However, he revealed that his appearance in the film would just be brief.

The last time that fans got to see Goldblum play Ian Malcolm in the franchise was in "The Lost World: Jurassic Park." After skipping out on "Jurassic Park III" in 2001 and "Jurassic World" reboot in 2015, it was confirmed earlier this year that he would be back as the glass-rocking mathematician in the upcoming sequel. Although the report sat well with fans, those who wish to see more of him in "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," might be disappointed to know that the actor's role in the sequel will not be as big as his role in the original film.

Talking about his role in "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," Goldblum said, "It's small... who knows, they may cut me out entirely! But if I stay in I'll be a sprig of parsley or a little garnish, hopefully with some impact!"

Goldblum also teased in a recent interview that his character would comment on the action with his signature "wry irony" and "deep, wise passionate conviction" remarks. It can be recalled that in the original "Jurassic Park" books, Michael Crichton depicted his character as an ironic commentator. If Goldblum's recent statement is any indication, it looks like he will serve the same role in the upcoming sequel.

The anticipated addition to the dinosaur park franchise, "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," just wrapped filming a few months ago, and its first official trailer is expected to arrive anytime soon.

The film is slated to hit U.S. theaters summer next year on June 22, 2018.
