'Just Because!' Episode 5 Spoilers: What Does the New Year Hold for Brokenhearted Friends?

The New Year has just taken a bad turn for friends Eita and Haruto on the Japanese slice-of-life anime series, "Just Because!" Now that they have both confessed their feelings to the girls they like, what comes next after heartbreak?

What was supposed to have been a group activity turned into a kind of date for Haruto and Hazuki when their friends bailed out on them at the last minute, sighting various reasons for not coming to the first shrine visit.

And what was supposed to have been the perfect opportunity for Haruto to ask Hazuki out on a date again, ultimately turned into a love confession that was for some reason rejected by Hazuki.

On the other hand, Mio, Eita, and Yuriko ended up going to the shrine together, and when at the end, there were only Mio and Eita, the latter unintentionally blurted out his secret feelings for Mio in a moment of anger.

Now that the truth is out, how will these revelations affect the dynamics among these four friends? Will they even still be able to stay friends despite it all, or have they just broken their newfound friendship for good?

Can Yoriko, Hazuki's best friend who also seems to support Haruto's feelings, do something to help her friends out? What could Hazuki's reason be for rejecting Haurto? Does she really have no feelings for the guy, or did she just prefer to focus on her life goals, and was thus not ready for romance?

Moreover, now that Mio knows how Eita feels for her, will this, in any way, affect her feelings for Haruto? Will she take time to consider Eita's confession, or will she choose instead to comfort Haruto in his heartbreak?
