'Justice League: Dark' Movie Will Start Production in 2016
The long list of DC films may just get longer with the addition of "Justice League: Dark" in its lineup.
The horror-themed "Justice League: Dark" will now have Scott Rudin, after Guillermo del Toro backed away from directing the film, according to Tracking Board. Scott Rudin is the producer behind "Steve Jobs," "The Grand Budapest Hotel," and "Zoolander 2." Rudin took over the job of running the new DC and Warner Bros. movie, since del Torro is busy with "Pacific Rim 2."
According to Movie Web, Rudin plans to start production by next year, and has been searching and approaching writers and directors to get everything moving. The report also added that the "Dark Universe," which is also the name of "Justice League: Dark," is now a major priority of Warner Bros.
Tech Times reported that if everything goes well, the "Justice League: Dark" might be released late 2016 or in 2017. However, the website also added that while production in less than two years may be possible, it might come too "forced." It may be because DC has another movie coming out in 2017, which is also another "Justice League" movie, and may bring confusion to moviegoers.
The new film will be based on the "Justice League: Dark" comic book series by Peter Milligan and Mikel Janín. According to Cinema Blend, the "Justice League: Dark" will follow the story of DC's supernatural heroes like John Constantine, Deadman, Zatanna, Etrigan The Demon, and Swamp Thing.
Details of the movie's plot have not been released yet, but according to Tracking Board, the story will start when "a series of ancient tomes [will be] stolen by a madman hellbent on the destruction of humanity." Constantine, an occult detective, will seek out a group of supernatural heroes in order to "save the world."
