Kate Middleton Cooking Classes Cost $2700 as Royal Mom Has Second Kitchen Installed in Home

Duchess Kate Middleton wants to make sure she knows all she needs to know when it comes to cooking for royalty. Kate and husband William recently added a second kitchen to their home at Kensington Palace so that they could do their own cooking, and it's recently been revealed that Kate took cooking classes with famous TV chef Rachel Khoo.

"Kate was in my class," Khoo told The Telegraph. "Kate was ill for a few days, so I took notes for her. She was a lovely person, but she kept herself to herself."

Kate's classes did not come cheap; normally a two-week course she took at Leiths cost $2700. Kate's sister Pippa also took cooking classes but chose to take them at the Grange in Frome, Somerset, where they were much cheaper. Much speculation has been made about the new generation of royals who want to do things on their own rather than have servants to tend to them.

Kate and William had an apartment at Kensington Palace refurbished and decided at the last minute to include a "private, family kitchen" installed at their own expense. It shows that they wanted to be able to cook whenever and whatever they wanted, in stark contrast to be waited on hand-and-foot like traditional royals. With Prince George still being so young, Kate also wants to monitor his food intake and what he eats. She has been trying to keep him on an organic diet.

The entire family tries to eat only healthy foods, including plenty of vegetables and fruits. According to one report, George's favorite foods include spinach, sweet potato and apple puree, and broccoli with raspberry and pear. During their trip to Australia and New Zealand, the royals asked not to have any sweets delivered to their room and instead focused on eating well while they were alone because they would be splurging at fancy dinners.
