Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry Join Social Media, Duchess Goes on Her First Engagement of the Year
The royal family is keeping up with the times as young royals Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton, and Prince Harry have now joined social media.
After joining Twitter on a shared account (@KensingtonRoyal) on Wednesday morning, Instagram informed TIME that Kensington Palace—home of the royals—has signed up for the photo sharing app. The members of the staff of the palace will be posting on the Instagram account @kensingtonroyal, as well on the Twitter account on behalf of the royals.
Through the app, many have gotten a look at the Duchess' first engagement of the year on Thursday, Jan. 15 at Barlby Primary School in West London, where she officially named the Clore Art Room. The Duchess has been patron of The Art Room since 2012, and her patronage reflects her interest in the arts and how art can be an instrument to enrich the lives of young people.
The Duchess wore a navy shift dress which draped gracefully over her baby bump, with French tweed trimming at the hemline and pockets, black tights and black pumps. She was greeted by staff and students before being shown into the new Art Room.
Afterwards, the Duchess joined in a round table discussion about the charity's work with education professionals Dame Vivien Duffield and Grayson Perry. Later, a group of children showed their artwork to the delight of the royal.
In a statement, founder and director of Art Room Juli Beattie said, "We are so delighted to be able to show Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge the new studio. Her interest and understanding in all that we do has been instrumental to the charity over the last few years."
