Kevin Hart in 'Let Me Explain' Opens Wednesday (VIDEO)

"Let Me Explain," is a half stand-up comedy set, half documentary by actor and comedian Kevin Hart. The film is expected to earn big after opening this Wednesday, July 3.

The movie follows Hart's 2012 world tour, the "Up All Night" tour. However, in an interesting and fairly novel format, Hart does not just release his stand up comedy set as a recorded performance, as most other comedians do. Rather, he created a story, displaying what leads up to a stand up performance and the drama that accompanies it.

In an interview with CNN, Hart explains how he came up with the idea.

"I just knew I wanted to document everything I was doing that year because it was so much, especially the world tour aspect of it. It was just putting camera crews in place to capture absolutely everything that we did and at the end of it just put the pieces of the puzzle I had in my head together. It all came together well. But as we were going along I tracked it and I knew the pieces I had, and it was just tying them together."

Though it's a novel format, many critics are less than pleased, believing it takes too long for Hart to get to the jokes with too much exposition.

"It's a shame he doesn't give all of us more to laugh at in 'Let Me Explain.' It takes 20 minutes of self-promotion before we get to the [stand-up performance,] leaving less than an hour for the actual performance," Elizabeth Weitzman wrote for The New York Daily News.
