Kristen Stewart Cut From 'Snow White and the Huntsman 2' Sequel?

Kristen Stewart will likely not return as "Snow White" in a "Snow White and the Huntsman" sequel, new reports claim.

The "Twilight" star, 24, starred alongside Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron in the 2012 Rupert Sanders-directed blockbuster, however, insiders claim both Stewart and Sanders, who infamously had an affair the same year, will not partake in the sequel. Sources claim Stewart has not been ruled out for a possible cameo appearance, according to the New York Daily News.

"Walking Dead" Producer Frank Darabont is said to be in talks to replace Sanders for "Snow White and the Hemsworth 2," which is slated for a May 2016 release.

Universal Studios will reportedly focus on a re-conceived solo Huntsman follow up movie starring Hemsworth, who plays the character of Eric, the Huntsman. Theron, who plays Queen Ravenna, is also expected to return for the sequel.

"The studio is currently exploring options to continue the franchise," a Universal spokeswoman previously told The Hollywood Reporter.

In July 2012, just two months after the film's release, Stewart was embroiled in a cheating scandal involving Sanders. The unlikely pair were photographed during a tryst which prompted them to issue heartfelt apologies to their respective partners.

It is unclear why Sanders is not returning to work on a sequel film. At the time, the movie director's then-wife Liberty Ross reportedly banned him from having any involvement in a Hunstman sequel in a bid to try and save their marriage.

"Liberty let it be known in no uncertain terms that Rupert can't direct the sequel to 'Snow White and the Huntsman,'" a source previously told RadarOnline.com.

"Rupert is obviously disappointed because 'Snow White and the Huntsman' was his directorial debut, and he had hoped on building on that with a follow-up after some decent reviews," the insider explained.

Stewart, who split up with Robert Pattinson last year due to the affair, has not publicly responded to the sequel reports.
