'Land of the Lustrous' Episode 5 Spoilers: Will the Gems Be Able to Rescue Phos From the Lunarians?

Just as the Gems have someone they care for more than their own lives, so do the slugs have someone they hope to protect, even if it means betraying a newfound friendship on the Japanese action-fantasy anime series, "Houseki no Kuni (Land of the Lustrous)."

As revealed in the previous episode, the Gems, the Lunarians, and the Admirabilis, or the slugs, weren't the original inhabitants of this world. According to a story passed down through generations of Admirabilis, there used to be creatures known as humans who inhabit the Earth.

However, these humans have since evolved into three species: the Admirabilis, the Gems, and the Lunarians, each one representing the flesh, bone, and soul, respectively.

And in order to bring about a revival, the Lunarians endeavor to bring together both flesh and bone to once again complete the elements needed to become full-blown humans once more.

How do they hope to achieve such a feat? It seems that the answer may soon be revealed since the Admirabilis, Ventricosus, the slug whom Phos has been conversing with, has just betrayed her and offered her to the Lunarian forces in exchange for her captured brother, Aculeatus.

On the other hand, Diamond has also discovered that Phos has split, and as seen in the preview for the next episode titled "Return," it seems that the other Gems will be going on a rescue mission to bring Phos back home.

Then again, will the Lunarians be true to their word and release Aculeatus, or will they end up betraying, and thus creating an enemy out of Ventricosus?
