Las Vegas Shooter Reportedly Wired $100,000 to the Philippines Prior to the Attack
It has been revealed that Stephen Paddock, the man behind the horrific Las Vegas shooting, had wired about $100,000 to the Philippines prior to the attack.
As authorities continue the investigation on the tragedy that is the Las Vegas shooting which took the lives of 58 people and injuring 489 more, it has been reported that Paddock had transferred $100,000 to an account in the Philippines last week. Authorities had also confirmed that Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, was in the Philippines at the time the attack took place.
Marilou Danley has since become a "person of interest" and in a report published by The New York Times, it has been revealed that Paddock's girlfriend had returned to the US for questioning. According to Danley, she had been sent to the Philippines (her home country) by Paddock for a trip and had wired money for her to use there, but she also stressed that she did not know that her now-deceased boyfriend was planning such a heinous crime.
Danley also said that she returned to the US on her own whim saying, "I know that the F.B.I. and the Las Vegas police department wanted to talk to me, and I wanted to talk to them."
"I knew Stephen Paddock as a kind, caring, quiet man. I loved him and hoped for a quiet future together with him," Ms. Danley said in a statement. "It never occurred to me in any way whatsoever that he was planning violence against anyone." She also confessed that the money sent to her was for the purpose of building a house for her family in the Philippines. According to the 62-year-old, she felt as if that was a breakup gift from Paddock to her at the time.
Authorities are still searching for a possible motive as to why Stephen Paddock, a known gambler, would choose to shoot at a music festival attended by 22,000 people.
