Lavigne Black Dress: Avril Opts for Untraditional in Second Wedding
After opting for a more traditional route the first time around, Avril Lavigne decided that a black wedding gown would be appropriate for her second wedding.
The punk-pop princess was wed to her boyfriend of one year, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, on July 1st. The wedding took place in France at the Chateau de la Napoule, a medieval castle close to Cannes. But instead of opting for a more traditional ceremony, as the singer did during her first wedding in 2006, Lavigne decide a less traditional approach would be better the second time around. To complete her eclectic wedding, the "Here's to Never Growing Up" singer wore a black wedding dress.
Walking down the isle in a black tulle Monique Lhuillie dress, the singer accessorized with a bouquet of black flowers. Almost a year before her wedding, Lavigne was already plotting out what her dress would look like.
"I have my idea of what I want," she told People magazine last September. "It might be something that I buy a few different dresses and rip them up and put them all together and dye them, or maybe I'll kind of do a collaboration with another designer."
France was a fitting place for the couple to get married, as it is the same location where Lavigne and Kroeger first became engaged. Following her engagement, the singer boasted about her ring being one of the best accessories.
"It goes with every outfit," she said advising other girls to "Get engaged."
"It's the perfect accessory for every outfit. I did it. You should, too," Lavigne joked about getting engaged. She admitted that she was as attached to her new ring as she was her new fan gear from Nickelback, which she claimed to "wear all the time" because she "misses him so much."
"I can't take it off. I sleep with it on," she said of her ring.
