LG G4 and G3 First To Get Android Marshmallow Update

Given the problems encountered by smartphone manufacturers last year when they rolled out the Android 5.0 Lollipop update without first testing and making sure the OS update was bug-free and problem-free, the manufacturers are expected to be a bit more careful about rolling out the Android 6.0 Marshmallow this year. According to a report in Gotta Be Mobile, LG will keep information about its Marshmallow update from the public up until it is ready to release the update for its phones.

As usual, LG has yet to make an official announcement about which of its phones will get the update. The report, however, speculates that LG will be among the first manufacturers to receive the update from Google, especially since LG is one of the manufacturers Google worked with for its Nexus 5X phone for 2015. Nexus 5X, as announced, will come pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

The report also pointed to some signs that may somehow confirm that among the first devices to be updated are the company's latest flagships – the LG G4 and the LG G3. A report on GforGames pointed to the official support page of LG Korea, where support pages for Android 6.0 Marshmallow have already been set up for the G4 and the G3, in anticipation perhaps for the actual roll out.

Outside of LG, the report also cited an announcement made by carrier T-Mobile about what devices will be getting the update soon. Among those devices listed are the G4 and the G3, and surprisingly, the budget phone, the LG G Stylo. According to T-Mobile, these devices are at stage 1 or under manufacturer development.

According to the report, other phones that will likely get the update will be the newly unveiled LG V10, the LG G Flex 2, LG Class and others. The LG G2 however may not be eligible for the Marshmallow update because the phone model is already old.
