LG G5 Release Date and News: Launch to Be Revealed During MWC?

LG's upcoming flagship is already looking great in tech outlets even without official announcements on its release, especially after rumors emerged that the company will announce something big about the G5 during the Mobile World Congress (MWC).

Multiple outlets suggest that LG is finally ready to unveil the G5 and announcements about its release will be made during the MWC, which will take place on Sunday, Feb. 21. The speculation could be true since the big event is such a great time to make announcements about the flagship rumored to slay Samsung's Galaxy S6 Edge+.

Last week, LG seemed to challenge Samsung, and possibly tried to make fun of the Galaxy S6 Edge+ when it said to its rival company: "@SamsungMobile Go from zero to full instantly with a removable battery." The tweet also gave a link to LG's V10, another powerful smartphone that can possibly thwart the interest of fans on the new Galaxy device.

While it is unclear if the G5 will really sport a removable battery, some expect that the device will actually sport a "drawer" design that allows for easy replacement of batteries when the phone is about to die.

As for its features, it is speculated that the G5 will come with an iris scanner that will hopefully ensure the phone's security from hackers and people who just love sneaking into other people's data. The rumored iris scanner is way better than the popular fingerprint scanner since there have been some complaints that the latter sometimes recognizes other people's fingerprints instead of the user's only.

Other reports suggest that the upcoming flagship will feature a 5.3-inch Quad HD display for improved viewing. It is also said that the device will be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820. That's not all, the new phone is expected to go almost toe-to-toe with other new devices as it is said to come with 3GB of RAM.

Finally, a back camera with 16-megapixel should do well for users who love taking photos or those who enjoy photo walks.

The LG G5 is expected to release sometime mid-2016.
