LG Stylus 2 Announced, Specs Include 5.7-Inch Display, 1.5 GB of RAM, 13MP Camera

South Korean multinational electronics company LG has announced the LG Stylus 2 handset and it's going to be unveiled at the upcoming Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain. According to LG News Room, the new handset is the enhanced successor of the G4 Stylus that was released in May last year.

The device sports a 5.7-inch HD screen with a display resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. The screen size is actually still similar to that of the G4 Stylus but the rest of the specs of the Stylus 2 is enhanced. The upgraded version is also a few millimeters thinner with a measurement of 7.4mm while last year's model had a measurement of 9.4mm.

As noted in Tech Times, the upcoming handset will be equipped with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor paired with a 1.5 GB of RAM. The internal memory storage capacity is 16 GB but users can opt to expand it further via a microSD card slot.

As for the camera specs, the Stylus 2 comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera while the front comes with an 8-megapixel secondary camera. It will run with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and will come with a stylus just as its name suggests.

The Verge detailed that the stylus of the new device is thinner and comes with a nano-coated tip. The company claims that it "not only gives a real pen-like feel," but also "allows for more accuracy when note taking and drawing compared to a rubber-tipped pen." Tech Crunch also noted that the device is flaunting a new Calligraphy Pen font which allows users to write using the stylus as if it were a real fountain pen.

The device will also automatically display the "Pen Pop" menu whenever the stylus is taken out of its holder. The menu will then show the shortcuts for memo writing or scanning apps. There's also a lower risk of the stylus being separated from the device because of this feature.

There's no announced price yet for the LG Stylus 2 but more details about it will be released once it is presented at the MWC 2016 which starts on Feb. 21.
