Los Angeles Lakers NBA Trade Rumors 2016: Considering Acquisition Of DeMarcus Cousins

The Los Angeles Lakers are seemingly adamant to acquire the services of Sacramento Kings big man DeMarcus Cousins.

News about Cousins' possible move to Los Angeles floated around as early as mid-November. In a November 19th report by Tyler Conway for Bleacher Report, one of the factors that could lead to Cousins' possible departure fro the Kings would be his strained relationship with head coach George Karl.

The report adds that Cousins' camp had opposed the appointment of Karl as a head coach. This had purportedly led the team's owner and chairman Vivek Ranadive to actually consider firing Karl from his post.

In another report by Danny Cox for the Inquisitr, the Lakers should need to make their move soon, if they really want to have Cousins in their team.

Cox also noted that the team would need to fill in the void that would possibly open up, once their team's main franchise player Kobe Bryant retires after the current NBA regular season.

"Cousins has that potential and he would be the focus and key of a team that is going to need a face and a direction. The thing is, if the Lakers are going to truly attempt to land DeMarcus Cousins, then it needs to be done soon," Cox wrote.

Another report by Marc Stein of ESPN, the Kings have already gotten in touch with the Lakers and the Orlando Magic for a possible three-way deal. It would involve the Lakers' big man Julius Randle and guard Jordan Clarkson, and the Magic's center Nikola Vucevic.

The report adds that the Kings' Vice-President for Operations and general manager Vlade Divac is considering making the overhaul, mainly to keep up with the league's up-tempo pace. The former NBA star center also noted that the team is in dire need of more three-point shooters.

Per game, Cousins is currently averaging 27.5 points, 11.1 rebouds, 2.3 assists and 1.1 blocks.
