Luka Magnotta Had 70 Facebook Pages, Shows Narcissism
Canadian killer Luka Magnotta had over 70 Facebook accounts, police have said. Magnotta is charged with the murder and dismemberment of Jun Lin, his former lover. Police say that Magnotta's online activity is what helped them capture the killer in Berlin.
"The suspect is present on more than 70 Facebook pages," Montreal police Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told reporters. "He maintained more than 70 Facebook pages under different names, so he was very, very, very active on the web."
Magnotta was found in Berlin after fleeing the Montreal in the province of Quebec; police were able to track him using his online activity and made the arrest in a local Internet café. Police say that they have footage of Magnotta killing Lin, dismembering his body, and performing sexual acts before possibly eating part of the remains.

Lin's hands and feet were mailed to four separate locations, and his torso was located behind Magnotta's apartment building. Police have yet to recover the actual limbs and head; all identifications were done through DNA matching.
"You can imagine with all this (Internet use), there are that many possibilities for us to find information," Lafreniere explained. "So a major part of the investigation is on the web."
Magnotta has posted several YouTube videos, including at least two in which he kills animals. Police can use all of this to strengthen their case against Magnotta, though the self-made video of the killing will likely put the man behind bars for a considerable amount of time.
Yesterday, Lin's family arrived in Canada to take his body home to China. "We come to take you home now," his mother reportedly said.
Yan Shi, head of the Chinese student association at Concordia University told The Canadian Press: "She was crying all the time. It's really terrible just being there. We didn't understand a word she was saying, she was crying a lot."
