Maksim Chmerkovskiy 'Dancing With the Stars' News 2014: To Replace Len Goodman as Head Judge?
Is Maksim Chmerkovskiy about to return to "Dancing With The Stars"? Rumors are swirling that the pro dancer is about to make a comeback on the hit ABC show, not as a dancer, but as one of the judges starting on the show's 21st season.
It was earlier reported that head judge Len Goodman is leaving the show after its spring 2015 run. Goodman has appeared as the senior judge on the panel for over nine years, and apparently the 70-year old is leaving so he can head home to his native country England and focus on other work commitments closer to home.
According to Globe Magazine, Goodman's exit has caused a rift among some of the "Dancing With the Stars," who all feel that they should be named head judge after he leaves. The magazine reports that judge Bruno Tonioli is threatening to quit the show if he isn't given Goodman's position. However, the "DWTS" producers are not even considering giving Tonioli the position as they allegedly have their sights set on Chmerkovskiy, and they are reportedly planning to give him the head judge position.
"Top brass have made it clear that they want someone with the same feisty attitude as Len—and Maks fits the bill perfectly. Now, after the snub, Bruno is thinking that it's time he calls it quits too," Globe reported.
An insider from Globe says, "Maks is a real hot head and craves being the center of attention. He's convinced he is going to be the star of the show—and he doesn't care who he hurts!"
Though this rumor has not been confirmed as of the moment, showrunner Rob Wade did say in an interview with The Wrap that some pro dancers will be coming back to the show, though he did not mention any names during the Q&A.
"Dancing With the Stars' is slated to premiere its 20th season on March 16 on ABC.
