Manny Pacquiao Calls Out Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Social Media
The much anticipated match between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. appears to get closer to being a reality as the Filipino boxer tells ABS CBN News that he is more optimistic about the fight because now, Mayweather is reportedly willing to seat down and negotiate with him. In the past, Pacquiao said that there was no communication between the two of them whatsoever.
On Jan. 4, the Pac-man took to Instagram to call out Mayweather. He posted a picture of himself staring at a fire pit, and captioned it, "Floyd brags about his lifestyle and everything! I don't care! I'm just waiting for him to sign the contract!"
The post was in response to Mayweather's recent post on Instagram, which shows the boxer in front of a fleet of luxury cars, as well as his own private jet, captioned, "Welcome to my toy world! Who wants to come out and play?"
This is not the first time that Mayweather has flaunted his wealth on social media. The boxer's previous posts include pictures of his shoe and sunglass collection, a snap of a pile of money captioned "A quick hand of black jack", and a red Ferrari with a massive red bow on top, which was reportedly a gift for his girlfriend. Another photo shows Mayweather in bed, lying next to a big pile of cash.
On New Year's Eve, Pacquiao made sure to remind Mayweather about what boxing fans really want in 2015 as he tweeted, "The ball will drop at midnight to usher in 2015. @FloydMayweather let's not drop the ball on fighting each other next year! #LetsMakeFistory."
Mayweather previously said that he wants to fight Pacquiao on May 2, 2015, and the Filipino boxer said last Monday to ABS CBN that the date was not an issue, what's important is for the fight to push through. Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, also had no problem with holding the fight on May 2.
"It needs to happen for both guys. I think we waited long enough," said Roach.
