Mara Wilson Slams 'Mrs. Doubtfire 2': 'Sequels Generally Suck'
'Doubtfire Ended Where It Needed to End,' Says Former Child Actress
Mara Wilson slammed the Mrs. Doubtfire 2 sequel Thursday, saying she would have nothing to do with a second installment of the 1993 comedy. Wilson played the daughter of Robin Williams and Sally Field, and Williams is set to appear in the recently announced sequel with the help of returning director Chris Columbus.
Mara Wilson played Natalie Hillard, the youngest daughter of Williams' character. Wilson, who gained fame for her roles in Miracle on 34th Street and Matilda before leaving acting over 10 years ago, said she would have "no interest" in the project.
"For the record, no, I do not have anything to do with the Mrs. Doubtfire sequel, nor will I," she tweeted from her Twitter account @MaraWritesStuff. "I've been in some mediocre movies, but I've never been in a sequel. And I have no interest in being in one now."

"Sequels generally suck unless they were planned as part of a trilogy or series. I think Doubtfire ended where it needed to end," she continued. "I'm glad I had the chance to be in it, and I'm proud of what we did, but I don't see how we could do it again."
While Wilson seems to be dead set against appearing in the sequel, her former cast mates, Matthew Lawrence and Lisa Jakub, seemed to show some interest. The two played Wilson's older siblings in the film, which featured Williams dressed up as a Scottish nanny so he could spend more time with them.
None of them have been asked to be in the sequel, however, so there's a chance Mrs. Doubtfire 2 could be heading in a completely different direction. Wilson herself hasn't been approached about the film.
"There are many, many reasons I don't want to be in Mrs. Doubtfire 2. But they haven't even asked me (yet), so no need to worry," she wrote.
