Mark Miller Previously in Talks With Matthew Vaughn on 'Man of Steel 2'

Comic book writer Mark Millar previously discussed with film producer Matthew Vaughn "Man of Steel 2." In a recent podcast, Millar shared his conversation with Vaughn about a potential "Superman" solo movie, which fans colloquially refer to as "Man of Steel 2."

"He actually phoned me up a few months ago, and he said, 'Hey, listen, DC, they're very interested in me doing 'Man of Steel 2.' Do you want to come in and do this?' And I was like, 'I'm exclusively to Netflix for years. We can't even have that conversation.' And he was like, 'Oh, man. What's the chances of this?' And then he kind of drifted away. And he's attached himself to a couple of things and all that," said Miller during the podcast.

According to him, the "Kingsman: The Golden Circle" director is so keen on doing the project that if somebody phones him up now and offers him enough money to do it, he'll drop everything he's doing just to do it. The comic book writer also revealed that he and Vaughn had pitched a "Superman" trilogy in 2008, five years before the release of "Man of Steel" in 2013. He said the idea was massive and uplifting, but all the plans vanished into thin air.

Millar's years of writing comic books combined with Vaughn's expertise in making superhero movies sounds like an interesting combination when putting together "Man of Steel 2." However, Netflix's recent acquisition of Millarworld means that Millar is exclusively tied to the streaming service in the coming years and cannot work with DC. It remains to be seen how Vaughn and Millar's plans for "Man of Steel 2" will play out, but the project will certainly not be among DC's priority projects in the next few years.

Meanwhile, Superman recently appeared in DC and Warner Bros.' latest outing, "Justice League." The film is still playing in selected theaters worldwide.
