'Married at First Sight' Season 5 Premiere This April on Lifetime
"Married at First Sight" is set to debut its fifth season on its new home in Lifetime this month.
The reality TV show began airing in 2014 through A&E Networks channel, FYI. However, for the upcoming season, the show has jumped to its sister channel which is also under A&E Networks, but will reportedly retain its original format.
To promote the series, a brief teaser was released through the show's official Facebook page last month, bearing the caption: "#MarriedAtFirstSight is back with 3 new blind marriages. Watch the love stories unfold Thursday, April 20th on a new network, Lifetime Asia!"
According to a report by People, Lifetime's social experiment reality TV show will take place in Chicago and will feature six single people getting married to complete strangers. For the fifth season, the matches were arranged by sociologist Dr. Pepper Schwartz, Pastor Calvin Roberson and communication and relationship expert Rachel DeAlto.
The cast of the upcoming season include Anthony D'Amico, a 33-year-old sales and marketing professional; Ashely Petta, a 30-year-old restaurant manager; Cody Knapek, a 26-year-old entrepreneur; Danielle DeGroot, a 30-year-old dietician who currently works with dialysis patients; Nate Duhon, a 26-year-old business manager; and Sheila Downs, a 31-year-old operations director for a local school district in Chicago.
These six individuals will be paired and will get married upon their first meeting. Then, they will spend a night in a hotel before they leave for their honeymoon. For six weeks, the three pairs will live together as real married couples, after which each couple will be given the power to decide whether they mutually wish to continue their marriage or terminate it through divorce.
The matchmaking special of "Married at First Sight," produced by Kinetic Content, is scheduled to air on Thursday, April 20 at 8 p.m. EDT, to be followed by the season 5 premiere at 9 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
