Mayim Bialik Emmy Surprise: 'I Am Legitimately in Shock'
"Big Bang Theory" actress Mayim Bialik says she is "shocked" to learn that she has been nominated for a second Emmy Award.
Bialik discovered that she had been nominated for her second consecutive Emmy Award this past week when she received a call from a friend in Israel. In response, the star says the she is "shocked."
"I am as shocked as if you told me that Chuck Lorre had been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Emmy," the actress wrote in a blog post for Kveller.com. "Why am I so shocked? I don't know; I'll ask my therapist. I just am! I was certain I would not be nominated."

Bialik confessed that she tuned in to a live stream of the Emmy nominations, eagerly waiting for her name not to be called.
"I kept hitting 'refresh' on the Google page for 'Emmy nominations 2013' and waited. And waited. In the darkness of my mother-in-law's living room," she wrote. "Ten minutes passed. Fifteen minutes. At 20 minutes, I admitted defeat and decided that if I had not heard from my publicist Heather (of the fantastic Much & House PR firm!) by now, it was over."
Even a second time around, the actress said it was an emotional experience to have her name called.
"I think my eyes welled up but I didn't cry," she said. "I am legitimately in shock and beyond honored to be nominated for the second year in a row alongside the inspirational Jim Parsons and our fantastically written show. I can't begin to express how shocked I am to be nominated with such an impressive group of women. Wow. Now I have to find a dress."
In the past, Bialik has been open about her Jewish faith. Reflecting on her good news, that also could have been really disappointing news, she shared a interesting verse from the Talmud.
She wrote: The Talmud (Sanhedrin 38a) tells us to carry two pieces of paper, one in each pocket. One says, "For me the entire world was created." The other says the words of Abraham Avinu, "I am but dust and ashes."
"You just never know," she said.
