Microsoft Lumia 940 Specs, Rumors: Successor for Former Nokia Flagship Could Be Unveiled This Quarter
Last year, Nokia announced what many consider to be its final flagship device, and it was during Microsoft's BUILD conference.
A few months later and the Redmond giant has completely took over Nokia's mobile division, only to rebrand Nokia Lumia into Microsoft Lumia.
This year, Microsoft will aim to build a more powerful device that will cater to the needs of its consumers.
The official launch of Windows 10 is just around the corner given the recent release of the official preview version. And so aside from the rumored Microsoft Surface Pro 4, another device that might hit the market soon is the Lumia 940.
According to a report by GSM Arena, the device may come with a 5.2-inch display, which probably has Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution. However, it would not be surprising if Microsoft would go for QHD (2560 x 1440) given its popularity this year.
Based on the report, the Lumia 940 could boast an octa-core CPU considering the fact that the latest Windows 10 will reportedly be able to support high-powered CPUs.
The camera department has certainly become the highlights of any Nokia or Microsoft-manufactured device in recent years, and that may still be the case for the Lumia 940.
In the report, the device could get a 24 or 25MP primary shooter, and paired with either a 5 or 8MP front camera.
Other rumored features include 3D interactions, an iris scanner, and other cool features.
Aside from the Lumia 940, Microsoft could also launch a "Plus" or "XL" version, which gets a bigger screen.
Both devices could very well show up at Microsoft's BUILD Conference, which kicks off on April 29.
