Microsoft Surface Pro 4 Vs Surface Pro 3: Which Laptop Performs Better?

The new Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has been reviewed compared to its the previous tablet hybrid, the Surface Pro 3, with the former weighing in as an improvement of the latter device.

Microsoft has trumped with its latest iteration of its tablet-first handheld that transforms into a laptop hybrid when needed. The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 has been favorably compared to its predecessor, the Surface Pro 3, taking what worked with the latter and developing it to perform better than before.

The new Surface Pro 4 tablet has come with a host of new improvements from the Surface Pro 3's perceived faults. And with the new Windows 10 operating system powering the device, it has become even more touch-friendly compared to the Windows 8.1 OS that ran in the Surface Pro 3.

While Microsoft has equipped both iterations with the same 64-bit dual core Intel CPUs, the Surface Pro 4 presents an improvement in the new fanless Core M, and a new design featuring tiny holes that allow the hot air to escape in lieu of a fan's cooling action.

Additionally, the Core M has been made available as the Surface Pro 4's entry-level model, compared to the Surface Pro 3's Core i3.

With a higher offering of RAM, and more options: 4GB, 8GB, 16GB, the Surface Pro 4 presents more RAM compared to the Surface Pro 3's dual choices of only 4GB and 8GB. The newer model also boasts of 1TB of internal storage, and starts with a 128GB onboard memory option for buyers.

Users who purchase the Surface Pro 4 will also notice the latest tablet hybrid's upgraded camera, which has been bumped up to 8MP from the Surface Pro 3's 5MP rear snapper.

With a more physically durable design, the Surface Pro 4 also carries improved hardware that includes a much larger 12.3-inch display featuring a sharper resolution of 2736 x 1824 pixels, an upgraded Type Cover keyboard, and a glass keyboard instead of the Surface Pro 3's significantly inferior plastic one.

Users will also notice the absence of the capacitive Windows button on the new model, which can however be substituted to the onscreen button of the device's Windows 10 instead.
