Microsoft's 'Halo 5: Guardians' Day One Update Revealed, Patch Will Be 9 GB Big

Just a few days before the launch of the next massive game from the "Halo" franchise, a new detail was revealed by the executive producer, Josh Holmes.

A fan asked Holmes on Twitter on how big the Day One update for "Halo 5: Guardians" will be, and the producer confirmed that update will be 9 GB big, which brings "Halo 5: Guardians" a total of 55 GB in size. He also added that the update will "include map content."

According to Euro Gamer, the update will focus on the game's multiplayer mode. The website said that the game developer, 343 Industries, will add the Arena multiplayer mode's map content. It will also include "the 12v12 Warzone multiplayer mode."

Fans have already anticipated that "Halo" will get a pre-launch update, and according to Game Spot, this has been a common practice for developers. Day One patch is usually released before a game's launch, since game makers want it running smoothly, as much as possible.

The website added that players who bought the disc-based "Halo 5: Guardians" would have to download the additional 9 GB Day 1 update. For players that bought the game from the Xbox Store, they would just need to update their copy online using the Xbox One's Instant On mode.

The summary of the game on the Halo website reads, "An unstoppable force threatens the galaxy, and the Master Chief is missing. An epic story and two new multiplayer modes mark the greatest evolution in Halo history."

Meanwhile, Xbox Australia plans to play the first 15 minutes of the game on a large aerial screen on Oct. 26. Fans will get to see the massive screen from three kilometers away, starting from Curl Curl and ending up in Coogee.

"Halo 5: Guardians" will be released this Oct. 27, only on Xbox One.
