Miss Universe 2016: Miss Puerto Rico Stripped of Her Crown After Revealing Her Dislike for Cameras

Following her revelation that she dislikes cameras Miss Puerto Rico Kristhielee Caride has been stripped of the crown that could possibly have led her to becoming this year's Miss Universe.

According to CNN, an organizer of the Puerto Rico franchise, Desiree Lowry said Caride just didn't have the attitude to hold the crown. "When I'm listening and she says, 'I don't like the camera,' I say that is a big problem. Miss Puerto Rico is a public figure and part of your job is to be in front of the camera," Lowry explained during a Thursday conference.

For four months, Caride held the title and during her reign, she reportedly had several incidents that led the organization to strip the crown off her head. According to the Associated Press, she had an attitude problem and previously clashed with the national director due to public appearances.

The outlet further explains that Caride had shut down a reporter who was asking questions in an interview and was dismissive. The organization finally pulled the trigger on her reign when she frankly said she didn't like cameras - an attitude that didn't seem fit for the next representative to the global stage.

Lowry said there was no apology from Caride's side. Though the former Miss Puerto Rico said she was going through personal problems, Lowry and the organization believe she could have done better in putting up with the media. "I wanted the earth to swallow me. You always have to put your best face forward," the organizer said.

Meanwhile, Caride took to Facebook and shared her side of the story. She said beauty queens were just like normal people who have bad days and she felt sorry for what she did. While she doesn't agree with the organization's decision to take the title from her, she said she will lay down the crown and sash. The post has since been deleted.

Caride isn't the only Miss Puerto Rico who had been stripped of her crown. Brenda Robles, the country's representative in 1994, was disqualified during the global contests after it was discovered that she was pregnant. Caride has become the first contestant in the international realm who has said goodbye to the competitions even before it started.

Brenda Jimenez will take over the crown and will represent Puerto Rico for Miss Universe 2016.
