'MLB The Show 17' Franchise Mode News Updates: Quick Manage and Critical Situations Added in Gameplay

Sony Interactive's upcoming baseball simulation video game, "MLB The Show 17," is slated to be released by this month, and Sony San Diego (the game's developer) is ramping up hype for the game through a presentation video.

There were many details revealed about the upcoming game, but the most talked about is its Franchise Mode, which is said to feature several improvements that will make it easier for players to manage and navigate between that and actual gameplay.

The Franchise mode of "MLB The Show 17" allows players to create their own baseball teams from scratch, using the player's own vision of how his team should be. This was detailed in the game's Twitch presentation.

This mode will also feature a new calendar wherein games that are slated for a network presentation are marked with a badge.

"MLB The Show 17" is also equipped with a Quick Manage capability which allows players to conveniently jump from gameplay to the managing aspect of a team, or vice versa.

A Critical Situations feature is also added under Franchise Mode to give players the option to spend time on the most important aspects of the game. This allows players to respond to the most defining moments of a game, like late game pitching changes, or situations wherein a two on and two out in the bottom of the ninth inning is experienced.

Most of these added features are part of Sony Interactive's aim to provide a more immersive simulation game experience for players.

In addition, new characters are also confirmed for the upcoming game. This includes baseball legends such as Harold Reynolds, who is also playable in the Franchise Mode, and Diamond Dynasty. Reynolds will be joined by former New York Yankee Jorge Posada and Ken Griffey Sr.

More details will be revealed before the game launches on March 28 for PlayStation 4 consoles.
