Moto X (2015) Specs, Release Date: Motorola Rumored to Bring Biometric Fingerprint Scanner to Upcoming Flagship Phone
For the past weeks, there have been several rumors about the Motorola Moto X (2015 edition), which should be announced in the next couple of months.
But even before the manufacturer makes anything official, there are already rumors and alleged specs for the device.
In a report by GSM Arena, the upcoming high-end device is rumored to pack a fingerprint scanner in order to keep up with the security features competition in the market today.
If the rumor is true, then this would be the first time that Motorola would have a fingerprint scanner for its Moto X flagship lineup since it was introduced in the market in 2013.
Based on the report, an alleged prototype image has surfaced and shows the portion at the back part of the device where the fingerprint scanner can be placed. Of course, there are other things that can placed in the square-ish cut-out, but rumors believe that it is indeed a fingerprint scanner.
Aside from the sensor, the Moto X (2015) would boast high-end specs such as a Snapdragon 810 chipset, a whopping 4GB of RAM, and even a Type-C USB port.
In addition, there would reportedly be two display sizes for the high-end Motorola device. A 5.2-inch version with probably QHD or 2K (2560 x 1440) resolution would be available for most carriers in the U.S., while a Verizon-exclusive would get a bigger 5.7-inch display.
None of these are official, so we better take these details with a grain of salt.
